Modification of Hemodialysis Membranes for Efficient Circulating Tumor Cell Capture for Cancer Therapy

Background: It is well known that more than 90% of cancer deaths are due to metastases. However, the entire tumorigenesis process not fully understood, and it evident cells spreading from primary tumor play a key role in initiating metastatic process. Tumor proliferation invasion also elevate concentration regular irregular metabolites serum, which may alter normal function human homeostasis possibly causes metabolism syndrome, referred as cachexia. Methods: We report on modification commercially available hemodialysis membranes selectively capture circulating blood stream by means immobilized anti-EpCAM antibodies inner surface fibers.
